Snowmobile Report: Date: 02/02/12
Trails--In very good shape with some worn areas.
We have gotten some warm weather over the last few days but the trails are holding up pretty well. The biggest issue would be on Trail 8 going east as it has been pretty well used the last few days and is rough in a few area. Otherwise the trails are in solid good to very good shape in the area. Groomers are doing a good job of keeping up the trails in nice riding shape.
Weather: mild temperatures are expected for the next few days with it cooling off early next week. Light snow accumulations expected throughout next week as well.
Snowcover: Snow Cover on Ground in Ishpeming: 16++ Snow Cover in Big Bay, Just to our NORTH: 16++
News: We have a new trail to our east which can serve as an alternative to trail 8. Give it a ride when your in the area, its a nice trail. The Moose Country Snowmobile club now has a groomer parked on site in the Country Village so our spur is always the first to be groomed when they go out/return. So you can literally see the groomer leaving to go groom the trails from our parking lot!
Area Grooming: The Moose Country snowmobile club does a majority of the Ishpeming area grooming. There are also several other clubs that maintain the other areas of the county such as Big Bay, Republic, Negaunee, etc... Trails are groomed on an as needed basis, so during busy times they are normally groomed at least once a day. During slower times, it may be every other day.
NEWS: The snow is falling!
